Oxford Synthetic Media Forum 2023

This is Oxford’s first conference on generative AI and efforts to prepare for the synthetic future, and George is on a panel called Future of art, media, and copyright in a generated world alongside Fattori McKenna, DPhil researcher at Oxford Internet Institute focusing on the politics and lived experience of art worlds on the blockchain.

Update, 23 Feb 2023

We had a great panel session, and I really enjoyed talking with the other panellists, Tori McKenna and Amanda Curtis, who are both research specialists at the Oxford Internet Institute looking into AI art, ownership, and creators’ agency in the emerging synthetic media landscape.

Here’s the video record, hosted on YouTube, 57 mins.

Three men work in a testing facility. A person in a metallic space suit is suspended horizontally, supported by two others on either side. A grid pattern decorates the background.
